A Border Severity Force jawan deployed along the Indo-Pakistan border was captured by Pakistani forces early on Wednesday after he was swept away by a strong current of the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir.
A Border Security Force jawan, who was swept away into Pakistan by strong currents of Chenab River and picked up by Pakistan Rangers, on Friday said he was treated "better" than his expectation and was looking forward to meeting his family.
"The airport has been cleared. The security forces killed seven terrorists while three blew themselves up during the fight," Director General, Rangers, Major General Rizwan Akhtar told media. "Very soon we will hand over the airport to the civilian aviation authority to start its normal operations," he said. "The attack is over and we have cleared the area of all militants, and we will hand over the airport to the Civil Aviation Authority at 12.00 pm (0700 GMT)," paramilitary Rangers spokesman Sibtain Rizvi told reporters.
The home minister said people must have faith in security forces who are foiling the evil designs of enemies.
Firing from across the border took place in several areas along the Line of Control and the International Border, drawing effective retaliation from the Indian troops, the officials said.
